Bezděkov nad Metují

Bezděkov nad Metují

The village of Bezděkov nad Metují lies on a plateau three kilometres south of Police nad Metují, at an altitude of some 500 metres. There are 207 houses registered in the village. The village was founded in the 13th century by the Břevnov monastery at the time that the border forest was colonised. The Baroque Church of St. Procopius is the main landmark in the upper part of the village and became the basis of the village's coat of arms in 1999. It is part of the Broumov Group of Churches National Cultural Monument. The village offers some lovely views of the countryside - part of the Polish Table Mountains, Broumovské stěny, the Giant Mountains and the Eagle Mountains.
