The village of Suchý Důl is located at the western foot of the Broumovské stěny rocks, along the Ledhujka stream, some 2.5 km east of the town of Police nad Metují, and also includes the local district of Slavný. It is a member of the Policko microregion. The whole area is part of the Broumovsko Protected Landscape Area. It is home to roughly four hundred inhabitants. The first written record of the village dates back to 1395. The village was awarded the green ribbon in the Village of the Year competition in 2001, while in 2002 it won the regional round and tied for 3rd place in the country as a whole.
