What separates a power plant from a centre for contemporary art? Besides a century of time, it's a unique idea and a whole lot of work. The historic building of the original Poříčí 1 Power Plant in Trutnov, located in the industrial area of the company KASPER KOVO, is gradually being transformed. The genius loci of the building, rooted in its industrial essence, captivated Rudolf Kasper, the founder and CEO of the company, so much that he decided to revitalize it into a visionary, tech-inspired world filled with art.
In May 2023, this five-storey building on the eastern edge of Trutnov opened to the public for the first time. At that moment, the functional section was completed, offering timeless spaces for sculptures and large-scale artworks—pieces that often can't be exhibited in other Czech galleries due to their size. The spacious, carefully renovated interiors with high ceilings provide artists with the necessary room for expression, while visitors and experts alike can enjoy a truly unique experience with contemporary visual art.
